Summer Event

Following on from a successful event in 2013, the Snailbeach and Stiperstones communities are organising another ‘Beach Party’ for this summer and Shropshire Mines Trust will have a major involvement.

On Sunday 12th July, SMT will open up the Snailbeach mine site – including the longer

underground tours of Roberts/Perkins level – these tours can be booked at the fete field stall on the

Saturday or by contacting Steve Holding in advance.

Building conservation

During the next few months contractors working for Shropshire council will be working on some of the buildings at Snailbeach.

Please stay away from working areas and obey all safety notices.

We now have a professionally produced education pack or schools and educational establishments. It includes information to help prepare risk assessments for visits

Group visits

If you wish to discuss a group booking for weekends or weekdays

Including surface or underground visits

Guided tours for groups and schools are available either weekends or during weekdays.

Bookings

 Please park at the village hall and walk up to the buildings.

Voluntary donations box for car parking by the entrance.

 “There is limited disabled parking in front of the visitor centre”

 Access is mostly on un-made pathways which may be muddy in places and suitable footwear is advised.

On some parts of the site there are steps and steep paths although there are alternative routes if required.

 Children are welcome but should be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

 Around the site there are description boards which explain the processes.
