For 2013

We will open at Easter and Spring bank holidays.

Then from June we will be open on

Sundays from 11-00 till 4-00pm

 

Here you can see a collection of mining and history exhibits and watch a video about the mine.

There will be guided trips into Day Level which is next to the building.

Self guide leaflets are available (50p) which will help you to explore the rest of the site.

 

On Selected dates we will open a longer Roberts Level trip into the larger workings where you can see areas that were worked by the miners.

Underground trips

Important planning information

The short Day Level trip

This is  dry but you will need to stoop in part of the tunnel.

It is suitable for all ages.

The longer Roberts level trip

For this trip you will need wellington boots.

There is a 15 min. walk up to the mine and the floors are uneven.

This trip is not suitable for infirm persons & no one under 5 Yrs is permitted.

Your guide will explain details before the tour starts.

 

Tour booking (including schools)

We now have a professionally produced Education Pack

for schools and educational establishments. It includes information to help prepare risk assessments for visits

 

Visiting the site

 

Please park at the village hall and walk up to the buildings.

 

“There is limited disabled parking in front of the visitor centre”

 

Access is mostly on un-made pathways which may be muddy in places and suitable footwear is advised.

On some parts of the site there are steps and steep paths although there are alternative routes if required.

 

Children are welcome but should be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

 

Around the site there are description boards which explain the processes.

 

Guided tours for groups and schools are available either weekends or during weekdays.
