Snailbeach opening

Snailbeach mine - the buildings will be open and there will be short underground tours available on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday 2016. Opening hours will be 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Replica tipping truck

This is a recently completed replica of a tipping wagon used to transport ore and waste rock underground at Snailbeach mine. The orginal is on the 40yd level but is in too delicate condition to move or display. This replica was built by Barry Ellis with help and guidance from members of Shropshire Mines Trust and Shropshire Caving and Mining Club.

We now have a professionally produced education pack or schools and educational establishments. It includes information to help prepare risk assessments for visits

Group visits

If you wish to discuss a group booking for weekends or weekdays

Including surface or underground visits

Guided tours for groups and schools are available either weekends or during weekdays.

Bookings

 Please park at the village hall and walk up to the buildings.

Voluntary donations box for car parking by the entrance.

 “There is limited disabled parking in front of the visitor centre”

 Access is mostly on un-made pathways which may be muddy in places and suitable footwear is advised.

On some parts of the site there are steps and steep paths although there are alternative routes if required.

 Children are welcome but should be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

 Around the site there are description boards which explain the processes.
